A Japanese Fish Float style wooden handmade rolling pin in English hawthorn with great grain. This unique pin is ideal for making wontons, jiozi, gyoza, Tibetan momos and Indian Samsosas. This Japanese float rolling pin is based on the old traditional hand blown glass floats. An ideal gift for anyone who loves the unique quality, grain and colours of natural finely crafted wooden items and loves to cook Japanese, Indian and all Asian foods, used with a flat palm to control the roll. English Hawthorn wood is a super tough wood, cool and heavy with a great grain, a mix of honey beige hues, smooth to the touch.
Designed and handmade by me in my workhsop in Shropshire, a fine piece of design and craftsmanship, finished with food safe oil. Any loose knots I always fill for hygiene reasons, this pin has no filled knots. Most of my pins, where practical, have the Tommy Woodpecker Woodworks logo so that you know you have an original. Size
This Japanese style rolling pin is approximately 135mm or 5 and 3/8ths inches in length and approximately 50mm or 2 inches in diameter at its widest point. Care Instructions
Not dishwasher safe. Keep out of direct sun, hand wash only, dry quickly or ideally just wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry quickly. Apply a little food safe or proprietary oil to your board, avoid olive oil which tends to go rancid, in time the oil layers permeate the board, after that point, less oiling is required. May need lightly sanding with fine sandpaper or scouring pad followed by oil for the first 6 months until oil is impregnated, this will enliven your chopping board and make it as good as new. A little extra care in the early years and perseverance with oil treatments will reap great benefits, you will be rewarded with a beautiful chopping board that will serve you well for many years to come. Dispatch
