Heavyweight Carving Mallet Old Lignum Vitae & Satinwood Handle

A handmade very unique, heavyweight solid carver’s mallet in 1961 old lignum vitae wood with a lovely handle in gorgeously coloured Satinwood with its own natural lustre. This has been made from a bowling ball from the 1961 so it has a unique history. Beautiful, smooth to the touch and full of character.  Great to add to your set of mallets from me. Ergonomically designed to be a great fit in the hand. This is a gorgeous piece of old lignum, with great rich colour and hardly any real visible checks which is very unusual for old lignum of this age, but when there are checks they are normal and do not detract from its strength. The price of old lignum has sky rocketed.
The handle goes right through to the end of the ball and is wedged for extra strength.
Designed and made by me in Shropshire and not mass produced. Each of my wood carver’s mallets is of course, slightly different and unique. Beautifully and lovingly finished with wax so the natural colour of the wood can speak for itself. Made by someone who carves and has done stone masonry so really knows the requirements of their tools.  An ideal gift for anyone who loves the unique richness and quality of the grain and colours of natural wood with a wow factor.  A lot of work goes into making the mallets.

Care Instructions
Best kept out of direct sunlight. Dust and polish occasionally with beeswax to be rewarded with a deep shine.  All natural unstained woods darken slightly with age.
